Finished with provolone cheese, this recipe delivers a cheesy ‘Philly in a pan’ moment that is both satisfying and easy to prepare.
One-Pan Philly Cheesesteak Orzo Skillet

This skillet dish features tender orzo pasta cooked with savory beef, bell peppers, and onions, all brought together in a creamy sauce. The recipe takes about 30 minutes to prepare and serves 4 people.
Ingredients
- 1 pound thinly sliced beef (or shaved steak)
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 1 bell pepper, sliced (any color)
- 2 cups orzo pasta
- 4 cups beef broth
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup provolone cheese, shredded
- Chopped parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Sauté Vegetables: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and bell pepper, and sauté until softened, about 5-7 minutes.
- Cook the Beef: Add the thinly sliced beef to the skillet, season with salt and pepper, and cook until browned, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add Orzo and Broth: Stir in the orzo pasta and beef broth. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for about 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the orzo is cooked and most of the liquid is absorbed.
- Stir in Cream: Once the orzo is tender, stir in the heavy cream and half of the provolone cheese until melted and creamy.
- Serve: Top with the remaining provolone cheese and let it melt. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired, and serve hot.
